Demo Day

Demo Day marks the middle of our MESA year and is held in February or March at the University of South Florida. It is a day of fun, exploration, learning, and networking. This is the first opportunity for MESA students to gather together and share what they have been working on. There are a number of activities to engage in such as STEM challenges, programs, career exploration, and of course a competition

Demo Day Requirements

For the Demo Day competition, students will need to develop a presentation that includes information about the process of their Yearly Themed Project. The information in the presentation should include but is not limited to:

  • Team Introductions
  • Challenge Outline
  • User Information
  • Early-stage prototype (sketch, drawing, or rapid prototype)
  • Optional Microcontroller Information
  • Optional Coding explanation, innovation, and impact
  • Design Process Description
  • Next Steps

Students design their projects around the Florida MESA's project theme. The user that students make their projects for must also be a member of their communities including family members, teachers, peers, school staff, members of your neighborhood, professionals within the field, and more!

MESA teams are encouraged to submit a draft of their Design Brief to receive feedback in preparation for MESA Day later in the year. The option Design Brief will not be counted into scoring for Demo Day.
