Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our Commitment

USF CMS diversity Equity and Inclusion

We are committed to producing outstanding marine scientists, who are well-prepared for positions in academe, industry, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations at local to international levels. We are committed to generating highly competitive MS and PhD graduates prepared for employment and leadership positions in ocean sciences. We are also committed to increase engagement, support, and the voices of underrepresented students. We recognize that with commitment must come action and we are working on developing impactful and meaningful new policies, procedures, and an improved campus culture through our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee

In July 2021, the College of Marine Science established a standing committee of the Dean’s Advisory Council that will focus on issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). The committee leads efforts to align with USF’s Principles of Community. The primary charge of the committee is to aid the College in its efforts to recruit, retain, and mentor a diverse community of employees and students. This includes providing advice to the College to create and sustain an inclusive, equitable, actively anti-discriminatory culture that provides a welcoming and enriching environment for all.
