Denim Day

Denim Day is April 18th!

What is Denim Day?

After an 18-year-old girl was raped by her 45-year-old driving instructor, the Italian Supreme Court ruled that because the victim wore tight jeans there is no way he could of removed them on his own, and therefore it was ruled consensual. Enraged by this verdict women in the Italian Parliament fought back and protested by wearing jeans to work. Denim Day was then started in 1999 in LA to raise awareness and support survivors of sexual assault. We wear jeans on April 18th here at USF to support survivors of sexual assault!

How can you support survivors of sexual assault?

On April 18th wear denim! Pick up a sticker that says “Ask me why I’m wearing Denim” from the Center for Student Well-Being, Center for Victim Advocacy, or one of our many tables around campus and tell others that you support survivors! Learn more about Denim Day.
