Who should apply?

This program is an ideal fit for individuals with a computing background looking to develop or deepen AI skills. This program is a great fit for:

  • Those with programming knowledge, including Python
  • Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and some statistics knowledge
  • A background in engineering, physics, math, or quantitative biology is helpful, but not required
  • Individuals seeking a pathway to USF's Master of Science in Data Intelligence

This is a fast-paced, fully online, credit-earning graduate level program. It is well-suited for:

  • Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science who have some statistical knowledge
  • People with a background in engineering, physics, math, or quantitative biology
  • Individuals seeking a pathway to USF's Master of Science in Data Intelligence
  • Those with a bachelor’s degree in information systems, IT, business analytics or similar who have also earned a Pathway to Computing Graduate Certificate from USF to gain the needed foundational skills. 

Applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 and some programming knowledge, including experience with Python.

  

Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and some statistics knowledge 
  • Or a bachelor’s degree in another discipline and USF’s Pathway to Computing Certificate
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Programming knowledge, including experience with Python
     

A background in engineering, physics, math, or quantitative biology is helpful, but not required. 

Applying to the Program

Applying to the Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate program is easy. Early submission is strongly encouraged. Start by beginning a graduate school application. An application and the $30 application fee must be received by the following dates:

  • Fall Start             June 1
  • Spring Start       October 15
  • Summer Start   February 15

Application Process

Start by beginning a graduate school application. On the application, select "Graduate Certificate" as the student type and select "Artificial Intelligence – Grad Cert" as the program type and upload required documents.

Required Documents

Required documents which include:

  • Unofficial transcripts from each college or university you attended, to include military credits and CLEP scores
  • An up-to-date resume or CV
  • Two reference letters from someone of authority who can speak to your academic abilities
  • A statement of purpose
  • A portfolio of your coding work (such as a GitHub link).
