Biography

Dr. Shira Wein is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida, where she leads the COMPASS research lab, focused on multilingual language modeling (language technologies for the world's languages), computational semantics (analyzing and representing what text means), and model assessment (evaluating plus explaining model performance). She is also a Faculty Associate at Harvard University's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Amherst College, and conducted research at Google, USC, and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
