About Us

History

For many years there have been a number of faculty and staff members who have considered the need for a faculty and staff association to directly support the needs of Latinx/a/o, Latin American, and Hispanic-identified employees at USF. After some initial connections being made at a Status of Latinos Presidential Advisory Committee meeting, on Monday, April 26th at 10am, via Microsoft Teams, the following faculty and staff members at the University of South Florida met for the first time to discuss the creation of the first ever faculty and staff association for this community:

  • Roberto Jiménez Arroyo, Spanish Section Head at USFSM/Instructor III, Department of World Languages (USF-SM)
  •  Jacob Diaz, Ed.D., Regional Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success and Dean of Students (USF-SP)
  • Ivonne Hernandez, PhD, RN, IBCLC, Chief Officer of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Assistant Professor (USF-Health)
  • Johanna Heule, Acting Assistant Director, Office of Multicultural Affairs (USF-Tampa)
  • Mónica Lee Miranda, Ph.D., Director, Center for Student Involvement (USF-Tampa)
  • Carlos J. Moreira, M.B.A. USMC, Veteran Services Coordinator, Office of Veteran Success (USF-SM)
  • Beatriz Padilla, Ph.D., Interim Director of the Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean (ISLAC), (USF-Tampa)
