Markum Reed serves as an assistant professor of instruction in the School of Information Systems and Management at the Muma College of Business. He specializes in teaching statistics, data mining, and business application development, engaging students at various academic levels, including undergraduate, MBA, and the Master of Science in Business Analytics and Information Systems programs.

Before joining the faculty at Muma College of Business, Reed built a robust career that spanned both academia and industry. He has held notable positions such as principal consultant, research director, and associate professor of data analytics at Henderson State University. His tenure also includes a role as research faculty at the Institute for Chief Data Officers at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and an associate professorship at Southeast University School of Economics and Management. These experiences have honed his expertise in data analytics, financial economics, and textual analysis, profoundly shaping his current pedagogical methods.

Regarding his educational background, Reed earned his PhD in Economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, following a master's degree in the same discipline. This solid academic grounding in economics complements his extensive professional experience, underpinning his comprehensive approach to teaching in the intersecting realms of data and business.
