Student Spotlight - Sheri Sukhu

Sheri Sukhu, a junior majoring in marketing and management, is heavily involved in activities both in and outside the College of Business. She is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Women in Business, and Real Men Read, an organization which promotes literacy and book drives benefitting local middle schools throughout Tampa Bay. In addition, she volunteers for the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, and in the past, Sukhu has also volunteered with the Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.

Prior to her junior year, Sukhu was a member of the Bulls Business Community, a living-learning community for high-achieving students in the College of Business. During her freshman year, she was named Resident of the Year for her outstanding achievements and participation in the BBC, and as a sophomore, she mentored and guided three freshman BBC residents.

Sukhu, who hopes to pursue a career in human resources, says the College of Business has given her the chance to hone her professional skills.

"Thanks to the College of Business and the BBC, I have been given the opportunity to network with business executives I wouldn't have otherwise had the chance to meet. It's been great to practice dressing professionally and interacting with those in the business community. While I still have a long way to go, I'm definitely more prepared than I would be had I not been able to take advantage of the opportunities through the College of Business."
