MFT Licensure

Road to LMFT Licensure

MFT Licensure Process

Your degree completion enables you to register with the Florida State Board as a registered MFT intern immediately upon graduation. To apply to be a registered intern with the state click here.

Once you have obtained a registered intern number with the state you can start collecting hours for licensure under the supervision of a Board-approved supervisor for LMFTs.

During your time in supervision, you must provide 1,500 clinical face to face hours and receive at least 100 hours of supervision. These hours must be done over a minimum of 2 years post-graduation.

Once your hours and required CEU’s are complete and you have passed your national exam you will be eligible to apply to receive your LMFT license through the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling.
