Associate Professor Tina Dillahunt-Aspillaga Co-authors Article on Traumatic Brain Injury in the Military and Veteran Unemployment
Associate Professor Tina Dillahunt-Aspillaga has co-authored an article in Brain Injury Professional, the official publication of the International Brain Injury Association and the North American Brain Injury Society. Much of Dillahunt-Aspillaga's work focuses on the rehabilitation and community reintegration of civilians, service members, and veterans with traumatic brain injury (TBI).
The article focuses on return to work as an important reintegration outcome for veterans and service members with TBI. Unemployment is high among post-9/11 veterans with TBI who use Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) services. The article describes current VA research and evidence-based practices related to vocational rehabilitation. The VA includes the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and the Veterans Benefits Administration and offers VR programs.
Dillahunt-Aspillaga has also been invited to lead a future special issue on traumatic brain injury focused on women and intimate partner violence/domestic violence. The publication has 50,000+ readers.
