Dr. Carolyn Ford is the Graduate Program Director for both the residential and online (Suncoast) Speech-Language Programs at the University of South Florida (USF). She received her Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) from the University of Alabama and her Educational Doctorate Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a cognate in Program Development from the University of South Florida.  She holds Specialty Certification in Child Language and Language Disorders from the American Board of Child Language and Language Disorders.

As a Master Instructor, she has been teaching courses, supervising, and developing programs in the areas of Child Language and Literacy at USF since 1992. She has over 40 years of experience across multiple setting including owing a Private Practice, directing an Easter Seals, Speech-Language Hearing Clinic, working and supervising in the Public Schools, and teaching at the University. Her passion is helping graduate students gain knowledge and skills in both assessment and treatment of children who are at-risk or have language or literacy disorders by critically evaluating the research evidence and using that evidence to support their assessment and treatment decisions.  She maintains strong interprofessional collaborations with the Department of Education, the Suncoast Consortium of SLP Coordinators, local School Districts, and her University colleagues, serving on several task forces including the Department of Education and the Florida Speech-Language Pathology Leadership Network. She provides workshops and in-services nationally and throughout the state of Florida on the Roles and Responsibilities of Speech-Language Pathologists in the Assessment and Treatment of Dyslexia, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Responsiveness to Intervention, Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards, Language and Literacy Assessment and Intervention, Data Collection Procedures and Progress Monitoring, and SLP Leadership Skills.
