Nancy Marencin wins ASHA 'Advancing Academic-Research Careers' award

Nancy Marencin, PhD, CCC-SLP, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Nancy Marencin, PhD, CCC-SLP, assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, has been selected as one of 10 recipients of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) 2025 Advancing Academic-Research Careers (AARC) Award.

The national award supports the retention of early-career, PhD-level faculty in the communication sciences and disorders field through mentored teaching and research development. Over the next 18-months, Marencin will work alongside selected research and teaching mentors to complete activities that strengthen her academic and research expertise.

Marencin is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist with a courtesy appointment at the Florida Center for Reading Research. Her research focuses on language and reading development and disabilities, particularly how children learn and represent words.
