Starting In Spring
Overview
Welcome to USF!
Here at Orientation, we believe in providing a seamless transition to every student and family member who will call USF their home. The University of South Florida first-year Orientation experience is hosted in-person on campus and attendance is required. All first-year students admitted to USF will be required to complete 3 parts of the Orientation experience. The experience consists of (1) completing of an Online Pre-Orientation Course via Canvas (University Learning Management System), (2) completing the Academic Program Requirements (3) attending an on-campus USF Orientation event at USF Tampa campus.
Be sure to continue checking your USF email, as you will receive additional details to prepare for your arrival prior to Orientation. Do not hesitate to reach out to our office by calling 813-974-3060 or emailing us at myorientation@usf.edu.

Step 1 |
---|
Complete Pre-Orientation Canvas Course |
Students will receive access to the required Pre-Orientation Canvas Course in five to seven business days after they've completed their Orientation reservation. Students must complete the entire course prior to attending their Orientation session. Failure to complete this course prior to your Orientation session may cause delays or challenges in your ability to register for courses. |

Step 2 |
---|
Complete Academic Program Requirements |
Students can expect to interact with their Academic Program during the following program components:
Within both of these programs, students will learn the essentials of academic onboarding, as it relates to their college and program of study. These steps will ensure students are able to be registered by their respective academic advisors and are prepared for the Live Synchronous Orientation session. Students must monitor their USF email for messages from their respective academic programs and the Office of Orientation regarding additional information about their advising meeting or Orientation session. |

Step 3 |
---|
Attend In-Person Orientation session |
All undergraduate first-year students are required to attend an in-person on-campus Orientation event to satisfy the last step of their Orientation requirements. Students will be required to arrive to the Tampa campus and be visible for the whole program. This experience will include a time for students to participate in educational sessions which will assist in their transition into the university community, complete their campus business including picking up their ID card, clearing holds, getting a tour of the university, and more. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with new incoming students and build connections prior to the start of their first semester. Please make sure to check your USF email for more details about program location and other information.

family and guest orientation program
Families and guests of incoming first-year students will be given the option to register for a supplemental Family and Guest Orientation experience. Like the student Orientation experience, the family and guest experience will include access to an Orientation session with campus leadership and access to asynchronous content to be viewed at the family or guest’s own pace via Canvas catalog. The family and guest Orientation program is only offered for in-person on-campus Orientation sessions.
If you’d like to attend, please make sure your student formally adds you to their Orientation reservation.
