Starting In Spring

Welcome to USF!

Here at Orientation, we believe in providing a seamless transition to every student and family member who will call USF their home. The University of South Florida First-Year Orientation experience is hosted in a hybrid learning environment.  All first-year students admitted to USF for spring 2022 will be required to register for and complete 4-parts of the Orientation experience.  The experience consists of (1) completing of an Online Pre-Orientation Course via Canvas (University Learning Management System), (2) completing the Academic Program Requirements (3) attending a Live Synchronous Orientation session via MicrosoftTeams, and (4) attending an on-campus USF Orientation event at USF Tampa campus.

Be sure to continue checking your USF email, as you will receive additional details to prepare for your arrival prior to Orientation. Do not hesitate to reach out to our office by calling 813-974-3060 or emailing us at

Reservation Guide
Step 1

Step 1

Complete Your Orientation Reservation

Tampa campus Orientation reservations are now available for Spring 2022. This process can be started on our main Reservation page. Click here now!

Step 2

Step 2

Complete Pre-Orientation Canvas Course

Upon reservation for Orientation, students will receive access to the required Pre-Orientation Canvas Course. Students must complete the entire course prior to attending their (Virtual) Live Synchronous Orientation session. Failure to complete this course prior to the Live Synchronous Orientation session may cause delays or challenges in your ability to register for courses.

Step 3

Step 3

Complete Academic Program Requirements

This Spring, first-year students can expect to interact with their Academic Program during the following program components:

  • Their College's Overview Module (Linked in the Pre-Orientation Canvas Course).
  • Their Live Synchronous Orientation Session.

Within both of these programs, students will learn the essentials of academic onboarding, as it relates to their college and program of study.  Students must monitor their USF email for messages from their respective academic program regarding any additional requirements.  These steps will ensure students are able to be registered by their respective academic advisors and are prepared for the Live Synchronous Orientation session.

If you have not heard from your Academic College/Program within 15 business days of paying for orientation, you are encouraged to contact your academic advisor.

Step 4

Step 4

Attend Live Synchronous Orientation session on Microsoft Teams

The Live Synchronous Orientation Session is a full-day, virtual Orientation experience led by the USF Orientation Leaders (OLs) and staff via the university Microsoft Teams Software. This program allows students to engage with a group of other incoming undergraduate students and receive important USF information that is best delivered in a small group or discussion-based format. In order to complete the Live Synchronous Orientation session, students must have access to a computer, microphone, camera, and reliable internet connection.

Step 5

Step 5

Attend In-Person Orientation session on Friday, January 7, 2022

All undergraduate first-year students are required to attend an in-person Orientation event on Friday, January 7, 2022 to satisfy the last step of their Orientation requirements.  Students will be required to arrive to the Tampa campus and be visible for the whole program starting at 9:00am and ending at 4:45pm. This experience will include a time for students to participate in educational sessions which will assist in their transition into the university community, complete their campus business including picking up their ID card, clearing holds, getting a tour of the university, and more. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with new incoming students and build connections prior to the start of their first semester. Please make sure to check your USF email for more details about program location and other information.

For students planning to live on campus, the official Housing and Residential Education opening is Saturday, January 8, 2022.  However, if you would like to move in early you must log in to the housing portal using your NetID and password and submit an Early Arrival Request Form and pay any additional associated fees.

family and guest orientation program

Families and guests of incoming USF Transfer students will be given the option to register for a supplemental Family and Guest virtual Orientation session. Like the student Orientation experience, the family and guest experience will include access to a Live Synchronous Orientation session and access to asynchronous content to be viewed at the family or guest’s own pace via Canvas catalog.  They will also have the option to attend the Friday, January 7 in-person event as well.

The event is no additional fee, but does need to be reserved ahead of time. If you’d like to attend, please: (1) make sure your student formally adds you to their Orientation reservation, and then (2) fill out our RSVP form: there are limited spots!

What is myBullsPath?
It's a one-stop student on-boarding portal that allows you to complete tasks all in one place (like registering for orientation or applying for housing).  The portal is designed for newly admitted undergraduate students, for all three USF campuses (Tampa, St.Petersburg, and Sarasota-Manatee).

How do I use it?

  1. Use your NetID and password to log into the myBullsPath portal.
  2. You will see a series of "cards".  Each card represents a task or series of tasks that. you need to complete.  They are color-coded so you know which to pay attention to:
    1. Green means you've completed the task.
    2. Red means you need to complete the task.
    3. Yellow means the task is in progress.
    4. Gray means you will need to complete the task in the future but not now.
  3. Follow the steps in the portal to complete any necessary tasks.
