IRB Fee Schedule

POLICY STATEMENT REGARDING FEES CHARGED FOR THE USF IRB'S REVIEW OF hUMAN SUBJECTS RESEARCH

The University of South Florida Institutional Review Board is responsible for conducting the ethical review of human subjects research being conducted at USF to ensure research participants’ rights, safety and welfare are protected. 

Protocols for human subjects research funded by the following sources will be subject to IRB fees:

  • Industry-sponsored research
  • Research sponsored by other for-profit entities

Protocols for human subjects research funded by federal, state and/or county funds will not be subject to IRB fees for review of local actives. Additionally, investigator-initiated research and research funded by internal mechanisms (USF/USF Health) will not be subject to IRB fees.

In rare cases under exceptional circumstances, a fee reduction or waiver may be requested. If you would like to request a reduction or a waiver, please contact the USF IRB by email.

Effective March 10, 2023 the USF IRB fee schedule for research utilizing a commercial IRB schedule is as follows:

  Review Type  
  All non-observational and/or registry studies Observational and/or registry studies
Administrative Review $2,000 $1,000

Contracts initiated before March 10, 2023, fall under the prior fee schedule:

  • All non-observational and/or registry studies at $1,000
  • Observational and/or registry studies at $500


Effective July 1, 2019, the USF IRB fee schedule is as follows:

Research reviewed and approved on/after April 1, 2013 will continue to be subject to the following fee schedule:
