USF Recreation & Wellness offers a multitude of Swim Lesson opportunities from Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons to Group Lessons. We offer a variety of pricing packages for you to be able to select what will best suit your needs. Each session is 45 minutes long and must take place within our standard operation hours. You can check our hours here. All instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and can help ensure you and your family build the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to be safe in and around the water. If you already know how to swim, but want to build up your skills, we offer Swimming for Fitness in the Private Lesson and Semi-Private Lesson format, where your coach will work with you to help you reach your new goal or learn lap-swimming skills and etiquette.
This program is open to all participants 3 years to adult age. In these classes, participants will learn the foundational swim knowledge they need to learn how to swim, float, and tread. There is a heavy focus on learning the three main strokes: freestyle, back stroke, and breaststroke. For children, we also encompass water safety instruction so they can identify how to be safe in and around the water. This class is focused on your confidence in the water, and the basics of swimming. This class is also offered to adults only in the group swim lesson package.
Swimming for Fitness
Already know how to swim, but want to reach your new fitness goal? This is the class for you! We can teach you the foundations of lap swimming or get you ready for you next race! We offer a comprehensive workout plan, as well as technique training to help you with distance and speed. This is also a great class for more advance strokes, such as the butterfly, or skills such as the flip turn. Currently, this class is only available in the private and semi-private format. You must be able to swim 25 yards independently to participate in this class.

Group Swim Lesson Prices
Taught at a ratio of 1 instructor, and up to 8 participants. The group lessons are taught Mondays and Wednesdays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a 3-week class, giving you up to 6 lessons.
