For Campus Partners

Transfer Team

The Transfer team is dedicated to assisting and supporting undergraduate students who have transferred from another higher education institution (state/community college or another four-year institution), with the aspiration of completing their degree at USF. Transfer advocates begin working with students once they matriculate into the institution and remain the student’s advocate through graduation. This allows the advocate to become familiar with trends that may be unique to the cohort as well as understand the needs of individual students.

Transfer Advocates support students challenged by a variety of barriers including poor major alignment, wellness, family/work responsibilities, and excess credit hours. Our advocates are able to determine the most proactive approach to supporting students with the assistance of a variety of data sources. We seek to engage and understand the student’s strengths as a means for assisting them with developing a plan for improved outcomes. Partnerships with our campus care partners are essential to ensuring that the student receives the right support at the right time.

Initiatives

The Transfer Advocate team is involved with two graduation initiatives tied to institutional and state metrics. The metrics are one part of the process, in that we recognize that the student’s experience has a significant impact on their success.

Finish in Two

The Finish in Two initiative represents the state and institutional goal to have all full-time students, who transfer with an AA degree from a Florida institution, complete their degree in two years. Our team collaborates with multiple offices and provides targeted outreach and support to transfer students with potential progression concerns.

Finish in Three

Due to unforeseen financial, academic, or personal challenges, some students require more than two years to meet graduation requirements. The Transfer team works to assist these students to ensure they stay on track to graduation within the three-year benchmark.

Future Initiatives

Our transfer advocates recognize that there are many transfer students trying to balance family responsibilities, while managing their academics. The Transfer team is seeking to enhance institutional student engagement to better support transfer students’ unique scenarios.
