Holiday Schedule

calendar

Faculty, Administration and Staff employees enjoy ten paid holidays. Some Temporary Employees are eligible for paid holidays, see below.

The University President may approve floating holidays each calendar year. These are generally announced during the Fall Semester.  While most offices will close, there will be exceptions due to the nature of work performed.  These decisions are made by the Vice Presidents and Deans on a case-by-case basis.

Temporary Employees

Although most Temporary employees are not eligible to be paid for these days off, the following employee groups are paid for holidays:

  • Professional, salaried Temporary.
  • Salaried Graduate Assistants/Associates covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Adjunct faculty who are working their regularly required work schedule.

Staff Employees Personal Holiday

Regular full-time and part-time Staff employees are entitled to one personal holiday each calendar year. For the purpose of determining eligibility for a personal holiday, a regular employee is one who has completed a probationary period without a break in service. A personal holiday is credited to eligible employees on January 1 each year, or on the date the employee completes his/her probationary period in any Staff class. A personal holiday is requested in the same manner as other types of leave and must be taken in the same day (cannot be taken in hourly increments) by the employee on or before the close of business on December 31 each year, or it is forfeited.
