The Jia Lab designs structured nanomaterials that leverage plasmonics, optical spectroscopy, and electrochemical sensing to enable continuous, real-time monitoring of chemical and biological activity with single-entity precision. By engineering nanoscale interfaces that transduce molecular interactions into measurable signals, we create high-performance sensing platforms for applications spanning human health diagnostics, agriculture and plant science, food safety, geochemistry and environmental monitoring, forensic chemistry, and other industrial sectors where molecular-level detection is critical. Our long-term vision is to translate nanoscale innovations into robust, multimodal sensing technologies that operate reliably in complex, real-world settings.
