USF School of Architecture & Community Design Professor Michael Halflants recognized by the Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects
Congratulations to USF School of Architecture & Community Design Professor Michael Halflants of the award-winning modern design-build studio, Halflants + Pinchette, on receiving a 2023 Design Award Citation from the Florida Association of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Florida).

The AIA Florida Design & Honor Awards program encourages excellence in architecture, elevates the public awareness of good design and recognizes architects whose work enriches the community and architecture at large. Design Awards submissions were evaluated by a jury of experts based in Panama City, Panama, continuing the AIA Florida’s tradition of seeking juries in architecturally rich international cities such as New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, and Barcelona.
According to AIA Florida’s President Beverly Frank, AIA, who is also a USF School of Architecture & Community Design alumna, “Great design transcends international barriers, evidenced by our jury’s thoughtful deliberations to select this year’s honorees. “I am confident these multi-faceted projects will serve as inspiration for our emerging architects as well as our seasoned professionals.”
Award winners were honored during the annual convention at the AIA Florida Design & Honor Awards Reception & Presentation that featured dedicated videos for each award. The Fall issue of Florida/Caribbean Architect magazine will feature each winner and project.
