Online Accounting Major

The Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy Online BS in Accountancy program is designed for working individuals who are unable to come to campus for traditional in person classes.  The last two years of the BS in Accountancy program are offered online to include the business core requirements.  This typically requires a minimum of 60 earned credit hours for those that do not enter with a business degree. Online students receive the same access to all Muma College of Business resources and expert faculty.

Who IS eligible for this program?

In addition to the state mandated pre-requisite requirements for admission to the accounting major, there are additional requirements that must be met to be admitted to this online program.  Applicants must have achieved:

  • Junior level status (60+ credit hours) and
  • Previously earned Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; or
  • Be currently employed full time or be a full time caregiver (verified); or
  • Be located more than 45 miles from any USF campus locations; or
  • Be in need of accessibility services

How do online courses work?

All course instruction, lectures, videos, assignments, etc. are provided online through Canvas. Most testing is also accomplished online using Proctorio software. Courses are typically asynchronous; in that there are no set times for “classes.” Students may complete assignments based on personal schedules and course deadlines.

How is the online program different from on campus?

The online program has the same curriculum and requirements as on campus. The only difference is the sequencing of online courses. Specific accounting major courses may only be offered online certain terms. Online students have an advisor to assist in course selection and sequencing.
