Dr. Steven Wodzinski is an adjunct faculty member in the Clinical Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling Program at USF. He also works as a licensed mental health counselor at the James A. Haley VA in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Wodzinski has served in the United States Navy and worked in the financial sector prior to obtaining his master’s in counseling from Villanova University in 2002. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Wodzinski has worked in several capacities in the mental health field in Florida. He has been a clinician, a supervisor, and the director of a shelter for abused children. He started working at the Tampa VA in 2009, doing psychosocial assessments of veterans in the ER. He has treated veterans with substance use issues and now sees veterans with comorbid chronic pain and mental health issues.  

Dr. Wodzinski obtained his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands in 2022. He is passionate about counselor education and supervision. Dr. Wodzinski holds several certifications which enable him to maintain pace with the latest knowledge and apply it in his clinical work. He is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), and a Board Certified-Tele-Mental Health Provider (BC-TMH). Dr. Wodzinski is also a qualified supervisor of mental health counselor interns in the state of Florida.

Dr. Wodzinski believes in promoting counselor rights and identity. One way he does this is through membership in counseling organizations. Dr. Wodzinski is a member of the American Counseling Association, Florida Mental Health Counselor Association (past treasurer), and Suncoast Mental Health Counselor Association (past membership committee chair). He has been the secretary for the Gulf Coast Mental Health Counselor’s Association. Dr. Wodzinski is also a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the International Honor Society for Counseling.

Dr. Wodzinski’s areas of interest include co-morbid chronic pain and mental health disorders, substance use disorders, veteran trauma, and clinical supervision of counselors.
