The Society of Aeronautics and Rocketry (SOAR) is the oldest aerospace-focused, student-led organization at USF. We are dedicated to the design, construction, and testing of rockets and propulsion systems, providing students with hands-on experience in projects that closely mirror real-world aerospace challenges.

We currently have two major projects: the development of a bipropellant liquid rocket engine capable of producing 250 lbf of thrust, and the construction of a high-powered sounding rocket designed to reach 5,000 ft while carrying a scientific payload. The liquid engine serves as our research initiative, while the sounding rocket is our entry for the NASA Student Launch competition.
