Patent granted to two Department faculty and two CSE graduate students

May 5, 2017

Professors Jay Ligatti and Dmitry Goldgof along with Department graduate students Cagri Cetin and Jean-Baptiste Subilis were granted United States Patent 9,659,160, "System and Methods for Authentication using Multiple Devices". The invention enables a user to authenticate, for example to log in to a website, without entering passwords, fingerprints, etc. Instead, multiple of the user's devices respond to authentication challenges. USF has non-exclusively licensed the invention to one company and entered discussions with others. This technology is part of a suite of authentication methods developed through a research collaboration between Department faculty members.
