A Message from the Executive Coordinator (March 2022)
Dear Colleagues,
The success of our faculty is foundational to institutional success at USF. We have
been working on a strategic holistic approach to contribute positively to your academic
lives as faculty in your classrooms, in your research and scholarship, and in your
daily professional lives. To this end, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the
Faculty Focus, dedicated to supporting your success at USF.
Faculty Focus is the result of several collaborative endeavors, initiated by the Faculty Success Strategic Initiative Workgroup and the submission of our Final Progress Report in December 2019. Building upon this initial work - and pivoting to adapt to the pandemic - we kicked off the Faculty Success Initiative in Spring 2021. This ongoing initiative is supported by a 93-member workgroup made up of faculty, deans, and administrators across all campuses and includes 4 focus areas: Teaching & Learning; Research, Partnerships & Communication; Access & Empowerment; and Finances, Infrastructure & Analysis. The continuing work of these Faculty Success Initiative Workgroups can be found on the Faculty Success Website, a one-stop shop for faculty at USF.
With many thanks to the contributions of the Faculty Success Initiative members, we are delighted to share Faculty Focus with you. This newsletter will provide resources to serve your needs as USF faculty. We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication of all those involved. It has been an inspiration to see their passion for faculty success at USF result in meaningful recommendations and actions.
We want to emphasize that this is your space. The Faculty Focus and the Faculty Success website are resources for you. We aim to provide you with the tools and resources that will assist and support you in teaching our students, in carrying out our university’s mission, and in the growth of your professional careers. We also want to enable you to engage across USF in research, teaching, and service that will enhance your professional networks and enrich your lives as faculty.
As a start Faculty Focus will be sent out 5 times per year - twice per semester and once over the summer. While we will be sending these communications to you, we also encourage you to reach out to us with your faculty success needs and valuable perspectives. You can email facultysuccess@usf.edu at any time with your thoughts. We look forward to staying in touch and helping in any way we can.

USF Faculty Experience: Survey Results and Action Steps (August 2021)
As part of USF’s ongoing Faculty Success Initiative, and to better understand the extraordinary challenges we have all faced during the past year, the Office of the Provost developed and administered a USF Faculty Experience Survey at the conclusion of Spring 2021. The Survey represented a university-wide collaboration and was designed in consultation with college deans and USF Faculty Senate leadership. It is intended to provide critical insights into the faculty experience, including teaching and learning, research, scholarly and creative activity, community engagement, work-life balance, along with mental health and wellness. Importantly, USF actions have been, and will continue to be, informed by the findings.
