Franklin James, MS, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Languages in which I conduct therapy: English.

My approach to therapy: I identify as a biracial, cisgender, hetero male who has been practicing counseling for 9 years with the past 3 in a university setting. I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy where clients can actively decide what goals they’d like to work on in therapy. In therapy, I utilize therapeutic techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution focused approaches based on need, interest, and effectiveness.

I enjoy working with diverse populations and acknowledge how culture, worldview, and personal values impact therapy. Some of the topics I also have experience working with are depression, anxiety, values conflict, self-esteem/worth, perfectionism, self-compassion, grief, and life transitions.

A Fun Fact: In my spare time I enjoy learning about new and emerging technology. I also enjoy films and video games. Most recently I’ve started learning about photography and enjoy taking pictures as a hobby.
