What We Do
Campus Outreach and Consultation
The Counseling Center is dedicated to fostering resilience among USF students and the USF community through the provision of campus prevention and intervention services. Explore how our signature offerings can help Build Your Inner Bull and a community of caring.
Outreach & Prevention Workshops
Our workshops are interactive, educational and diversity oriented. We focus on resiliency based learning objectives that help students maximize their strengths, learn new ways to cope, connect with others, and prepare them to be psychologically well and academically successful. Please Note: Due to high student demand we are unable to meet requests in the last 6 weeks of each semester.
Campus Connect - Suicide Prevention
Suicide prevention is a community responsibility, the more we know and can look out for one another, the safer the community becomes. Campus Connect is a gatekeeper training that will teach you how to: • Recognize warning signs and risk factors of suicide. • Assess the level of risk for someone in crisis. • Ask someone if he/she is thinking of suicide. • Refer someone to the right resources.
Mental Health Promotion
Health promotion and social messaging strategies are used to connect the Counseling Center with USF students in hopes of increasing the conversation and engagement of students on mental health topics.
Mental Health Screenings
On-line and in-person screenings for depression, anxiety, alcohol use and disordered eating are offered throughout the year. These opportunities are used to enhance awareness of personal mental health and encourage help seeking behavior for students in need.
Stonger Than I Knew Project
We all have a story of a time when we were stronger than we knew. We invited USF students to share their stories of overcoming personal challenges. See the entire collection of videos on our YouTube channel and read the guidelines for the project to submit your own story today!
Campus Community Consultation
The professional staff of the Counseling Center are available to all members of the USF community for consultation, professional development, and intervention recommendations surrounding issues that concern the lives of students.
