Events

USF features several special events and programs designed to prepare students from underrepresented communities. These visits are designed to expose students from underrepresented populations and special groups such as AVID, TRiO, Take Stock In Children, and other various community groups to the University of South Florida.

Group Visits

Groups such as AVID, Take Stock in Children, TRIO, Upward Bound, or high school and community-based organizations of 10 or more students are welcome and encouraged to visit the University of South Florida. We offer guided group tours Monday through Friday at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., excluding holidays and campus closures.

Due to the large volume of requests we receive for group tours, we are not able to provide guided tours to elementary or middle schools. However, we encourage these groups to take a self-guided, video or virtual tour of campus.

All groups interested in scheduling a visit must register online at least 45 days prior to the requested visit date.

USF College Preview Day

The College Preview Day event is designed for prospective students in grades 9-12 from historically underserved/underrepresented populations who are considered first-generation college attendees. At this event, students will learn more about the opportunities that await them at USF by interacting with members of the campus community and experiencing various aspects of college life.

During this event, students will be equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to conquer the college admissions process. Scheduled programming includes a financial aid information session, campus tour and question-and-answer session with a diverse student panel.

Reservations are limited to high school schools and community-based organizations on a first-come, first-served basis. USF College Preview day is hosted in the fall and spring of each year.

DIVE

DIVE is a three-day, two-night residential program hosted at the Tampa campus during the summer. The experience is designed to better prepare students for the college admissions process while providing a preview of the academic and social life the University of South Florida has to offer.

Over the course of three days, students attend workshops that feature content for increasing standardized test scores, building academic confidence and conquering the college admissions process.

Students who complete the application for DIVE and are invited to participate in the program will have all costs associated with food and housing sponsored by USF Admissions.

Current high school juniors/rising seniors attending high school in the United States are eligible to apply. Students involved in organizations (Ron Brown Scholars, AVID, Upward Bound, CROP, TSIC, etc.) that focus on college preparedness and students from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
