Female Education hero

2019 WORDRUNNER ECHAPBOOK PRIZE AWARDED TO USF ENGLISH PROFESSOR RITA CIRESI

“Female Education”, authored by Rita Ciresi, a professor of English at the University of South Florida, was recently awarded the 2019 Wordrunner eChapbook Prize. “Female Education” offers 14 thought-provoking flash fictions that deal with love, loss, and the hard choices women make.

Ciresi’s characters experience great joy and passion; they endure failed marriages, displacement, rejection, and grief. Their narratives are influenced by contemporary ideals of female empowerment, as well as former "female education" practices that attempted to control women. In spare prose, these stories are hilarious, poignant, and sad, and sometimes all at once.

Wordrunner eChapbook publishes two to three online collections of fiction each year, featuring one author, and an annual themed anthology of fiction, memoir and poetry in the winter. “Female Education” is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other online book sellers.
