Profile

The Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) located in Tampa, FL is managed by the Tampa Film Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization. GIFF, founded in 2006, is well-known for its annual film festival that attracts over 10,000 attendees during the 5-day festival. Each year, we screen over 100 independent and international films from all over the world. GIFF also provides year-round film programming at venues like the Tampa Museum of Art, Muvico Ybor and other pop-up venues.

Internship Description

Administrative / Social Media, Marketing / Web & Graphics: Works alongside Executive Director and Festival Manager to assist with general administrative duties, including communications (phone calls, emails, attending meetings), inner-office tasks (paperwork, research), graphic design, website management, and other duties. Also assists with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Vine, Instagram, etc), email blasts, and other marketing/PR activities. Also includes tasks during festival week (March 19 - 23, 2014). **Must be proficient in graphic design and websites (Advanced Photoshop and Wordpress knowledge required)

Programming: Works alongside Director of Programming, and duties include logging received films, viewing films, handling paperwork, communicating with filmmakers, etc... Assists during festival with Technical Director and projectionists.

Special Events: Works within Special Events Department assisting with RFPs, negotiations, venue searches, coordination of events, and other hands-on opportunities during festival.

Guest Services: Works alongside Guest Services Manager to assist with coordination of air and ground transportation, hotel room blocks and reservations, dining and entertainment reservations, and coordination of festival drivers during event week.

Additional requirements: All potential candidates must be part of an accredited higher-education internship program. We request that you: -Have your own reliable transportation with valid insurance -Have a personal laptop with internet access at home -Be proficient in word-processing, email and other general computer tasks -Have general knowledge of social media applications, trends, etc -Be at least a Junior in college and have a 2.5 GPA or higher -Have great customer service skills -Show initiative & ability to work independently -Dress appropriately & professionally -Be comfortable with email, phone & in-person communication -Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
