For 24 years the Friends of the Festival (DBA Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival/TIGLFF) has shown films related to LGBT issues, by LGBT artists and/or made by members of LGBT community - local, national and international. TIGLFF is the 4th largest LGBT film festival in the U.S. We have an average attendance between six or seven thousand attending over a period of 9 to 10 days. In 2013, the festival will be help from Oct. 4th to Oct 12 held at both the Historic Tampa Theatre and at Muvico Baywalk in St. Petersburg.
TIGLFF's intern program (with UT & USF) is aimed at giving hands on festival management, promotions, marketing and online design and content management experience. Our aim is to have specific tasks that help the festival with its primary functions operate as efficiently and successfully as possible. After 24 years of experience, the festival has a high standard of operations to maintain as we try to satisfy our audience's desires for quality film and event experiences.
Internship Description
Intern tasks include:
Helping with mailing and shipping of films
Office document management
Phone monitoring
Getting passes to purchasers (both at events and in the mail)
Helping with the tasks of the Jurers and their film reviews
Collecting data from the iPhone App Spreadsheet input that captures sales by film
Assisting at events with ticket sales, equipment/furniture rentals and set up and
returns
Moving in and out of Tampa Theatre
Setting up after films
Assisting with visiting directors, actors, etc. with directions and local transportation
arrangements
Assisting program director and festival director working with Tampa Theatre operations
Shadowing the festival manager to learn how to operate a film festival Attending
staff operational meetings for information and input.
Our offices and primary venue for the festival are located in Ybor and downtown Tampa
so travel is required to those locations. Likely no travel to the St. Petersburg location.
Dress can be casual and comfortable. Hours of operation would be normal office hours
during the weeks before the festival is in operation, but during the festival (Oct
4th - 12th) hours would include two weekends (all afternoon and evening), and week
days from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
