Assistant/Associate Professor in Topology/Geometry

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of South Florida seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Mathematics position on our Tampa campus starting August 7, 2023. The position is open until filled, but review of applications will begin on November 15, 2022. Salary is negotiable.

Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Mathematics and/or Statistics with a concentration in Topology, Geometry or related fields, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Doctoral degree must be conferred by July 15th, 2023. Must meet the University criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong research record, who can teach a broad array of theoretical courses, and whose research can interact with current faculty interests.

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, excellence both in research and teaching; previous teaching experience is preferred. The candidate hired to this position will be expected to teach effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels, to maintain a vigorous research program, to seek external research funding, and to develop a satisfactory record of service. Candidates with experience in Applied or Interdisciplinary collaborative research are encouraged to apply.
