Curriculum Vitae


Dr. Anthony Coy joined the Psychology faculty at USF Sarasota-Manatee campus in 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. He earned his PhD in Social Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013 and his BS in Psychology at Ferris State University in 2008.

Dr. Coy’s research focuses on dyadic perspectives on relationships. Specifically, he examines how partners’ behavior influence each other in romantic relationships. Dr. Coy has also extended relationship theories to understand environmental behavior and person-pet interactions.

He’s published his work in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, Anthrozoos, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships and Social Psychological and Personality Science. Dr. Coy teaches Psychological Tests and Measurement in which he enjoys engaging students in discussions regarding how to identify and develop valid and reliable measures for use in research and practice. In his Social Psychology and advanced seminar courses he encourages application of course concepts by having students to explore their own interests and identifying examples in their everyday lives.
