Areas of Study

At the University of South Florida’s School of Art & Art History, we offer several majors, degrees, concentrations, and areas of study.  We also have minors and certificates for students interested in combining a visual art discipline with an outside interest.

The School of Art & Art History encourages student exploration across media and subjects. Either by taking courses, working with faculty, or utilizing specialized facilities, students can explore the following academic areas of study:

Art History

Art History is one of the School of Art & Art History’s three majors.

Immerse yourself in visual culture, past and present. Engage in the study of art from various social and cultural contexts. Develop the skills to critically look at and interpret works of art, architecture, and design.

Ceramics

Channel yourself through your hands and explore what you can build with clay. Glaze materials, figurative ceramics, mold-making and casting, and more, the possibilities with ceramics provide plenty for your hands and creativity to work with.

Printmaking

It’s in the details. For you making intricate designs and experimenting with different materials all enhance your passion for artmaking. Delve into the various types of printmaking, including relief printing using woodblock, intaglio printing using copper plates, screen printing, and more.
