Theatre Alumnus Robert Wierzel Reflects on the Performing Arts

Lighting designer and USF Theatre alumnus Robert Wierzel discusses the performing arts and his personal journey in an interview with the Wenger and J.R. Clancy blog Your Performance Partners. Wierzel graduated from USF with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre in 1980. He went on to study at the Yale School of Drama.

Since then, he led an extensive career in the performing arts. He has worked extensively with the Bill T Jones/Arne Zane Dance Company as well as numerous national and international opera companies. He has earned several Bessie awards for his work with the dance company and a Tony nomination for his work on the Broadway musical Fela!. Today, he teaches at both Yale and New York University alongside his professional work.
