Interdisciplinary Program InsideART Uses Contemporary Art to Teach Global Issues
Tuesday, July 25, 2017
An article entitled Discussing Global Issues Through Contemporary Art by faculty of the USF College of Education explains how the program prepares students in reading, analyzing, civic engagement, and making meaning of messages in a visually and technologically-rich landscape.
At a time when many teachers teach familiar and less contemporary topics in art, InsideART offers self-contained and complete lesson plans to teachers for them to use contemporary art exhibitions at the USF Contemporary Art Museum as a way of understanding global issues such as environmental degradation, homelessness, urbanization, and more.
