Committees

The Marketing and Technology Committee manages all things technical (e.g., organizational surveys, website updates, graphics, social media).

The Nominating Committee solicits active/current members for leadership positions described in the USF BFSA bylaws. It also validates the current membership of potential candidates.

The Mentorship Committee identifies and trains mentors and mentees. It also collaborates with the Social Committee to host networking events each year.

The Scholarship Committee solicits and secures funding for scholarships, e.g., contingency monies for Black students and the Black Faculty and Staff Association Endowed Scholarship. It also works in conjunction with the Social Committee on the planning and execution of the annual BFSA Scholarship Banquet.

The Finance Committee maintains fiscal records and account expenditures of BFSA.

The Membership Development Committee strategizes and markets the BFSA to Black employees of the University, inviting them to become active members. It also is responsible for inviting former employees and affiliates of USF to become non-voting members, inviting them to join BFSA's Community Liaison Committee.

The Social and Events Committee plans yearly social events. At a minimum, this committee is responsible for BFSA's New Faculty and Staff Breakfast Reception, Scholarship Banquet, Mentorship Reception, and an End of the Year Bash. Any other approved event of their choosing may also be organized.

The Community Liaison Committee links USF's BFSA with the university's internal and external Black communities and community organizations, e.g., the University's Committee on Black Affairs (COBA) and the Black Student Union (BSU).
