Research Interests:

Crisis response; allegations of abuse and neglect; marriage and family therapy


Dr. Lauren Baxley is an Assistant Professor of Instruction and field placement coordinator in the  Marriage and Family Therapy Program in the Department of Child & Family Studies at USF. She earned a masters degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2009 and PhD from Florida State University in 2012, both in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and qualified supervisor in the state of Florida, as well as a Clinical Fellow in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Baxley has experience as a crisis response therapist working with children and families in their homes who have faced allegations of abuse and neglect. She also provided therapy services to students designated as having an emotional or behavioral mental health diagnosis through her work with Mental Health Care, Inc, now known as Gracepoint. She has served as a guest lecturer to USF’s Psychiatry Residents and as an adjunct professor for the RMHC program in the past. Dr. Baxley has extensive experience working with the Veterans Health Administration as a marriage and family therapist. She provided couple and family therapy and served as the family services representative playing an integral role in educating staff about veteran family needs and expanding services for veteran family members.
