Dr. Nicholas Catania is a Visiting Instructor of Elementary Education at the University of South Florida (USF). His research interests include teacher preparation for social justice as well as pedagogical practices for meeting the needs of LGBTQ students.

Catania has 14 years of experience teaching in K-12 and higher education settings and works with teacher candidates and in-service teachers coaching them to improve their teaching practices in the clinical setting. His research has been presented at multiple national and international conferences, most notably American Educational Research Association (AERA) and National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME).

Catania currently serves in leadership roles for the AERA Queer Studies SIG, National Association for Professional Development Schools (NAPDS), as well as as an ongoing editor for both the Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals (JAASEP) and Special Education Research, Policy & Practice (SERPP).
