Anchin Center and Hillsborough County Public Schools Strengthen Math Coaching Through Research-Based Professional Learning

The David C. Anchin Center and the College of Education at the University of South Florida have once again partnered with Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Mathematics Leadership, supported through a Gates Foundation grant, to advance research and professional learning focused on effective math coaching at both the district and school levels.

This collaborative effort brought together K–12 math coaches from across the district for a high-quality professional learning experience designed to foster collaboration, shared learning, and professional growth. Through intentional planning and facilitation, participants engaged in research-based strategies, meaningful dialogue, and collective problem-solving aimed at strengthening instructional practices and student outcomes in mathematics.

The partnership will continue into the spring semester, with a focus on sustained learning, application of newly acquired strategies and concepts, and reflective practice. Together, USF and Hillsborough County Public Schools remain committed to building coaching capacity and supporting continuous improvement in mathematics instruction across the district.
