Lawrence Hall on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

July 31, 2018

Distinguished University Professor Lawrence Hall was recently quoted in Florida High Tech Corridor's annual magazine, florida.HIGH.TECH 2018. Professor Hall concludes that the human element brings bias to datasets when it comes to machine learning and artificial intelligence. To achieve unbiased output, extreme care must be taken by human users while selecting training data and developing the algorithm. Professor Hall predicts that many new jobs created by AI will involve curating and fine-tuning data to maximize the accuracy of machine-learning systems.
