Hispanic Heritage

On September 18, USF Computer Science and Engineering hosted the event “Latinx Coders: Expanding our Reach in Computing” as part of USF’s Hispanic Heritage Month. Undergraduate advisor Marjorie Fontalvo organized the event, giving students a fun way to learn about Hispanic culture. Student representatives from seven countries each had a table at the event to display items related to their country. Participants were able to roam around the room and converse with the representatives in a relaxed environment. There was also an opportunity to play Dominoes, view the PowerPoint presentation and sample cultural cuisine, all while enjoying the Latin music playing over the speakers. Twenty-one students and 13 student representatives attended the event.
