Collaborative paper wins award at 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Smart Electronic Systems
CSE students Lakshmi Kavya Kalyanam and Vishalini Ramnath, in collaboration with advisors Srinivas Katkoori and
Hao Zheng, were awarded the best paper award at the 2020 IEEE International Symposium
on Smart Electronic Systems (iSES) for their paper titled, “A Distributed Framework
for Real-Time Object Detection at Low Frame Rates with IoT Edge Nodes.” Only three of
70 papers received this recognition.
The paper is the master’s thesis work of Kalyanam, who is now pursuing her Ph.D. under
the supervision of Katkoori and Zheng.
The IEEE International Symposium was held virtually, with the objective of providing
a platform where both hardware and software researches can interact under one for
further development of smart electronic systems.
