USF Pre-College Program and Registration Policies

A student’s participation in a USF Pre-College program is not guaranteed until the student has completed the registration process which is outlined below.

For-Credit Registration

  • Students admitted to a For-credit program will receive instructions to complete their registration in two parts:
  • Registration Part One:

    • Upon admission to a program, students and parents will receive an email notifying them of the student’s acceptance. Included within that email, there will be information for next steps in program registration. Students and families will be directed to the registration services page for their selected program and instructed to pay a deposit in order to reserve their space in their program. A student’s participation is not guaranteed until the registration deposit is paid. The deadline to complete a deposit is Monday, June 14. Capacity for programs may be reached prior to the Monday, June 14 deposit deadline, and so it is encouraged for students to complete their deposit at their earliest possible convenience.
  •  Registration Part Two:

    • Participants, who have submitted the USF Pre-College registration deposit will receive an email from USF Pre-College with steps to complete the non-degree seeking student application for USF.

    • After completing the application, students will need to provide necessary registration paperwork to be eligible to enroll in courses. USF Pre-College will direct students through this process and assist students with completing these steps.

    • Once a student is eligible to be registered in university courses, USF Pre-College will manually enroll them in the courses for their program. Once registered in their courses, a student’s registration is considered complete.

    • After a student is registered, USF Pre-College will work to ensure that their student balance is correctly adjusted to properly reflect the cost of the program. At this time, any student awarded scholarship will have their award applied directly to their account.

    • USF Pre-College will maintain communication with students and families throughout the process of registering for-credit students.

  • Important information and notes:

    • All USF Pre-College programs have limited space available; program spaces are available on a strict first fill basis. A participant’s spot within the program is reserved and filled upon the submission of the USF Pre-College registration deposit.

    • All USF Pre-College registration deposits are fully refundable until Monday, June 14 for first registration deposit.

    • Participants may only submit their USF Pre-College registration deposit for ONE USF Pre-College course program and may only participate in ONE USF Pre-College course program in the 2021 summer term.

    • If a student submits more than one USF Pre-College registration deposit, they are in violation of the USF Pre-College outlined policy and may be subject to additional fees incurred, which may result in a partial refund for the second, unapproved registration deposit.

    • We recommend that participants submit their USF Pre-College registration deposit as soon as possible to ensure the spot is reserved for their participation. A program can reach capacity at any point. Once a program is filled, our team cannot guarantee space to additional interested participants.

    • USF Pre-College scholarship decisions for all participants who completed the USF Pre-College scholarship application by the updated priority scholarship application deadline should be dispersed prior to the academic program’s registration deposit deadline. In maximizing scholarship award opportunities, recipients typically receive 25-50% scholarship awards, which are applied to the remaining balance, which is due after the USF Pre-College registration deposit. The office encourages students to submit the registration deposit as soon as they are sure they want to attend the program. Students may not receive USF Pre-College scholarship decisions prior to a program registration becoming closed due to the space being full. In the case that a student receives a 100% scholarship, USF Pre-College will refund the students registration fee.

Refunds

  • Students who have paid and completed their USF Pre-College registration deposit are eligible to cancel their registration deposit for a full refund up until Monday, June 14 at 5:00 p.m. (EST). This deposit counts towards the total cost of the USF Pre-College 2021 course. Students are expected to pay the remaining registration cost by Thursday, July 15 at noon (EST) via the appropriate payment portal, which will be outlined in the registration process.

  • Students are eligible to submit a formal program withdrawal decision request to USF Pre-College by emailing ined-precollege@usf.edu by Thursday, July 15 at noon (EST). The USF Pre-College team will work with the USF Office of the Registrar to remove the student for the course and start the process to refund any payments made towards registration minus the USF Pre-College registration deposit.

  • Deviations from this policy can be made on a case-by-case basis in the presence of extenuating circumstances, such as medical and family emergencies. After Monday, June 14, registrants would be required to request a refund of the deposit in writing and provide available documentation of the circumstance. Refunds will be offered at the discretion of the USF Pre-College Director.

  • Refunds will not include amounts awarded to students through scholarships.

  • Refunds will only consist of registration costs paid by students and their families at the time of registration.

  • Cancelled registration for students who were awarded a scholarship can result in the forfeiture of awarded funds. Any student requesting to cancel their registration must speak with USF Pre-College about the effect of registration change on their scholarship award, prior to changing their registration. Failure to communicate can result in a forfeiture of scholarship funding.

Change of Student’s Registration

  • Students who have paid and completed their registration and are intending to change their registration into a different program are eligible to do so in accordance with the following policies.

    • The student must first have applied and been admitted to the program of choice prior to the application deadline.
    • Students must formally email USF Pre-College at ined-precollege@usf.edu and list the following:
      • Their full name as reflected on legal identification

      •  Their date of birth

      • Their Legal Guardian’s name, email, and contact phone number. Please note, a student’s email should not be the same email as that to a parent.

      • They must formally request the registration update, and they must formally state their forfeit of the space within the previous program for which they submitted the registration deposit and/or complete part two steps of the registration process.

    • Upon receiving the email request, USF Pre-College will aim to respond within three business days and confirm the status of the registration update.  A change of registration is only guaranteed once USF Pre-College confirms that the registration was successfully updated.
  •  Students who have been approved to change programs will have their registration updated to their selected program by USF Pre-College.

  • Scholarship awards are specific to the student’s originally intended program, and by electing to change a student’s registration there is the possibility of a change, reduction, or forfeiture of a student’s awarded scholarship. Any student requesting to change their registration must speak with USF Pre-College about the effect of registration change on their scholarship award, prior to changing their registration. Failure to communicate can result in forfeiture of scholarship funding.

Wait Lists

  • In the event that a program reaches capacity, any additional students interested in the program are eligible to add themselves to the program waitlist.
  • Students on the waitlist are not guaranteed a participant space in the program. However,if listed on the waitlist, students and their families will be contacted in the event of a vacancy in the program.
  • In the event of a vacancy in the program, USF Pre-College will contact all students on the waitlist, and their legal guardians on file by email to inform them of the available space. Students will be directed to complete their registration deposit at that time. Requested items will be outlined within the email from USF Pre-College.
  • Priority of communication to waitlist students will be sent on a first received basis based on the date and time that the communication posted in the USF Pre-College email inbox. Our office will stagger communication, meaning that all students on the waitlist will be invited to complete their registration deposit in the event of a vacancy. The available space will go to the first student to complete their registration deposit.
  • The latest that a student on the waitlist can be notified of an available vacancy in the program would be 14 days prior to the start of the program. Past this point, a student will not be able to complete their registration and all necessary registration waivers and contracts prior to program start.
  • All students who elect to place themselves on the waitlist will receive a confirmation email from USF Pre-College reminding them of these policies.
  • To receive an official place on a USF Pre-College 2021 course program waitlist:
    • The student must first have applied and been admitted to the program of choice.
    • Due to limited space and to optimize opportunity for all interested participants across each program, students cannot be on a waitlist and also registered for another USF Pre-College 2021 course program.
    • Students must formally email USF Pre-College at ined-precollege@usf.edu and list the following:
      • Their full name as reflected on legal identification,
      • Their date of birth
      • Their Legal Guardian’s name, email, and contact phone number. Please note, a student’s email should not be the same email as that to a parent.
      • They must formally request to be placed on the waitlist for their selected USF Pre-College course program.
    • Upon receiving the email request, USF Pre-College will aim to respond within three business days and confirm the student’s spot on the waitlist for the specifically mentioned USF Pre-College course program.

Program Rescission

  • USF Pre-College reserves the right to rescind a student's admission to their selected program at any time.
  • Students may have their admission rescinded at the director's discretion, due to behavior or conduct violations unveiled throughout the application and registration process. Possible violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Rescission of a student's admission can be due to violations carried out by the student and/or their parent or legal guardian.

Cancellation of Program

  • USF Pre-College reserves the right to cancel or suspend any scheduled program prior to the listed program start date. In the event of program cancellation, USF Pre-College will notify all registered students and families immediately. In effort to rectify the situation, USF Pre-College will work with previously registered students and their families to potentially offer alternative programs or alternate sessions. If updating to another program is not feasible, a complete refund of all registration charges paid will be issued.
  • Registered students in a canceled program who received a scholarship are eligible to maintain their award to be utilized for other programs.
