MLK Commemorative Week
Each January, the Tampa campus Office of Multicultural Affairs brings together campus and community partners to commemorate and reflect on the legacy of one of the greatest Civil Rights leaders of the twentieth century, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We honor his dream and vision through a variety of events that embody his commitment to social justice, service and civility.

Stampede of Service Kickoff and Service Opportunities

Do you want to get involved? Would you like to help create positive social change through volunteering? Want to learn more about the UN Sustainable Development Goals? Interested in meeting new people? If you answered yes to any of these, SOS is for you!
The purpose of SOS is to get students engaged in the Tampa community through meaningful service experiences while connecting with one another. The Kickoff provides an opportunity to learn about service and co-curricular involvement at USF and sign up for volunteering.

MLK Panel: Malcolm & Martin

Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs for a panel honoring and remembering Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Featuring diverse perspectives from USF faculty, staff, and student leaders, this panel will serve to educate the audience on the differences and similarities between the ideologies and theories of Dr. King and Malcolm X.
University Lecture Series: Angela Harrelson & Paris Stevens

OMA is collaborating with the Center for Student Involvement for the MLK Week University
Lecture Series featuring Angela Harrelson and Paris Stevens, the aunt and cousin of
George Floyd. This powerful lecture will be centered on social justice, activism,
and the work left to be done.
Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Brunch: Untold Stories

Division of Student Success, Theta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative
Brunch. This year’s event uncovers the untold stories of the Civil Rights Movement
and honors Dr. King’s legacy of service, featuring a keynote speech from Dr. Tangela
Serls, Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies,
and reflections from the brothers of the Theta Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
Inc.
