Biography

Dr. Milton W. Wendland is a Professor of Instructor with a specialty in equitable and inclusive online education. He is currently a Jerome Krivanek Distinguished Teacher, and he recently earned his third USF Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and was a finalist for the USF Innovative Online Teaching and Course Design Award.

Outside of his USF duties, Dr. Wendland is a voracious bookworm who enjoys oddball traveling – e.g., visiting the still-radioactive Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine,  spending Christmas in Transylvania, and staying overnight in the house where Lizzie Borden was alleged to have killed her father and step-mother. He’s always thinking of new ways to keep his courses current and stimulating; and his bio photo shows him in the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan on his phone coming up with new course ideas. He’s also an attorney at law in FL and NY and once handled a case in which a client left their house and property to their thirty-seven cats.

Dr. Wendland also holds three master’s degrees -- in American Studies, in Career & Technical Education, and in Gerontology with a focus on LGBTQ+ aging and end-of-life studies. He also holds certificates as both an End-of-Life Doula and an Animal Companion End-of-Life Doula, and he’s trained as a Decluttering at the Speed of Life decluttering and organizational coach.
