The Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications is the recipient of a major gift from advertising alumnus Jordan Zimmerman. We deliver cutting-edge 21st century undergraduate curricula in integrated advertising and public relations, multimedia news, TV production, journalism and digital communications.
The Zimmerman School partners with the USF College of Business for the ZAP business advertising degree, including the 4+1 accelerated master's degree. The Zimmerman undergraduate certificate in Visualization and Design is offered jointly with the USF College of the Arts.
Graduate programs include master's degrees in advertising, mass communications media studies or strategic communication, and digital journalism (St. Petersburg).
The ZSAMC is located in Tampa, the 12th largest U.S. TV market. Sunny Tampa offers Zimmerman students world-class internship and employment opportunities, including news, entertainment media, agencies, corporate departments of communication, professional sports franchises, tourism and destination organizations, The Nielsen Company and The Poynter Institute.
On campus, students and faculty benefit from relationships with on-campus organizations such as University Communications and Marketing, USF Health, USF Athletics, WUSF-FM, WBUL-AM radio and the award-winning student newspaper The Oracle.
Resources such as AdClub, the Walter E. Griscti Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the Online News Association (ONA) provide extensions of classroom learning and the opportunity to network with professionals.
Students work collaboratively with peers while enjoying the benefits of individual attention and mentorship. Our accomplished faculty provide a balance of academic and professional credentials and emphasize hands-on instruction.
At its core, the Zimmerman School emphasizes strategic thinking, on-point accountable messaging, compelling storytelling and nimble skills for the digital environment. Across disciplines we share a commitment to the First Amendment, free speech and freedom of information. Our students and faculty prize truth, accuracy, fairness, balance, and social responsibility.
Zimmerman students graduate prepared for first jobs and a lifetime of success.
