The Zimmerman School at the University of South is a leader in mass communications education and research. We offer students transformational learning experiences in media and communication through innovative programs, extracurricular activities and hands-on training alongside top scholars and professionals in Florida’s # 1 media market.

We offer distinctive undergraduate programs in integrated public relations and advertising, multimedia news and video production. At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Science in advertising with a focus on analytics and a Master of Arts in mass communications with specializations in strategic communication management and data analytics and media literary. In class and out, Zimmerman School faculty support entrepreneurial ideas, promote critical thinking, inspire creative problem-solving and stress professionalism values.

In the Z School (as we call it), students enhance their knowledge of contemporary professional practices and polish their technical skills by:

• Training in a state-of-the-art virtual production studio;
• Producing award-winning broadcast news shows that air on the local PBS affiliate;
• Directing and managing a student-run global advertising and public relations agency;
• Partnering with local and national organizations to advance community initiatives;
• Traveling abroad to gain international experience through classes and internships;
• Conducting research on audience behavior, media consumption, and communication effectiveness in the Media Research Center;
• Training to become certified drone pilots;
• Participating in student clubs and associations, including the Walter E. Griscti Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the USF chapter of the Advertising Education Federation and student chapters of the Florida Public Relations Association and the Radio Television Digital News Association;
• Completing internships in media and communications with local, national and international organizations;
