BIO

Dr. Kelly Page Werder is an associate professor in the Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications. She joined the USF faculty in 2001 and teaches courses in public relations and strategic communication management. Her students have developed strategic communication campaigns for more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Tampa Bay community.

Dr. Werder’s research expertise includes message strategy effects, corporate social responsibility, crisis management, leadership in public relations, and student learning outcomes assessment. She specializes in survey and experimental research methodologies. Her work has been published in Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, International Journal of Strategic Communication, the Handbook of Strategic Communication, and the Handbook of Public Sector Communication.

She has served as editor of the International Journal of Strategic Communication (Routledge/Taylor & Francis) since 2012. She has presented lectures in strategic communication management at universities throughout Europe, and she was an international visiting scholar at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland in 2016/17 and the International University of Languages and Media in Milan, Italy, in 2018/19. Dr. Werder is the editor of the forthcoming book Future Directions of Strategic Communication (2019, Routledge).
