Position Summary:

The USF School of Architecture and Community Design (SACD) invites applications for two full-time, tenure-earning Assistant Professor positions beginning August 2026. Successful candidates will maintain an active research or creative practice agenda in line with the performance expectations of an R1/AAU institution, teach architectural design studios and lecture courses, and contribute to service within the school, college, and university. With prioritizing excellent studio teaching, special consideration will be given to applications that demonstrate experience and expertise in one or more areas of architectural history, computational technologies, environmental resilience, and building technologies.

Organizational Summary:

Founded in 1986, SACD was Florida’s first public school of architecture located in a fast-growing and dynamic major metropolitan center. SACD offers a Master of Architecture and is in the process of adding an undergraduate architecture program that is set to launch in Fall 2026. The school’s research arm, the Florida Center for Community Design and Research, pursues work in resiliency, community planning and design, and housing and related interests.  With approximately 300 students and 11 full-time faculty, the school benefits from close ties to a robust professional community in Tampa Bay and a collaborative, mentorship-focused culture.

The School of Art & Art History at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Drawing, with an anticipated start date of August 2026.

The successful candidate, in line with the performance expectations of an R1 AAU institution, will maintain an active record of high-impact creative research at the national or international level. They will demonstrate a strong commitment to original creative production that significantly contributes to the field of contemporary drawing and its expanded practices. The candidate’s research agenda should articulate a forward-looking vision for drawing within the School of Art & Art History, expanding the program’s reach through innovative, cross-disciplinary, and community-engaged initiatives. Evidence of progress toward these goals will help identify a strong applicant.

The Drawing area at USF supports a wide range of approaches—from observational and technical foundations to experimental and conceptually driven practices.   • MFA or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, creative research, and service.
  • Evidence of an active research practice in drawing or drawing-related media, with potential for national or international recognition.
  • Ability to teach a broad range of drawing courses, including both traditional and experimental approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong exhibition record with evidence of high-impact creative research.
  • Experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Proficiency in a secondary area such as printmaking, new media or interdisciplinary studio practice.

The School of Art & Art History at the University of South Florida (USF) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-earning position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction in Animation, with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The successful candidate will teach in support of the Animation and Digital Modeling concentration within the School of Art & Art Design’s BFA in Studio Art.

We are seeking an animator and educator prepared to teach 2D Animation, 3D Animation Fundamentals, Visual Storytelling, and related subjects central to the animation curriculum. Candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time teaching experience by August 2026. We welcome applicants who demonstrate a wide-ranging understanding of contemporary animation practices and who can support students working across traditional, digital, and emerging animated media.

The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 course load during the fall and spring semesters, with the possibility of course releases for specific service projects.   • Experience teaching a range of animation courses, including story development, visual storytelling, or digital modeling.
  • A record of professional, creative, or scholarly activity in animation.

The successful candidate will teach courses on the St. Petersburg campus in support of the Graphic Arts degree programs.

We seek a designer and educator with a dynamic and forward-thinking approach to contemporary graphic design practice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to design as a form of visual communication and creative inquiry, one that bridges traditional and emerging processes, engages community and client-based contexts, integrates printmaking, and responds to the evolving role of design in global culture.

The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 course load during the fall and spring semesters, with opportunities for course releases in relation to studio maintenance responsibilities and special projects. Teaching responsibilities will include a range of lower- and upper-level courses in graphic design such as typography, design foundations, digital and print-based media, and professional practice. The School of Music at the University of South Florida is searching for an innovative, creative and collaborative trumpet teacher to teach both classical and jazz trumpet students. Responsibilities

Duties: The Assistant Professor of classical and jazz trumpet will maintain a high-profile career as a trumpet performer in accordance with research/creative activity expectations for tenure at USF. They will mentor students for diverse musical careers. They will design, build, promote, and recruit for a high quality and innovative studio for undergraduate and graduate students, and also teach varied ensembles/combos/chamber groups and related classes. They will actively collaborate across the local/regional/national/international community, and engage in the School of Music, College of Design, Art and Performance, and the University of South Florida as they contribute to committees, meetings, auditions, and recruitment activities.

The candidate must document prior experience as an outstanding trumpet performer in both classical and jazz genres, as well as previous teaching experience at the University level that involved both classical and jazz genres, and the candidate must present evidence of on-going engagement in professional activities that demonstrated creative performance.

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate can also document programing that innovates and redefines trumpet performance, and experience recruiting high quality undergraduate and graduate trumpet students.

Duties: Faculty in the School of Theater and Dance are required to maintain an active research agenda and annually report on progress toward promotion and tenure. As an R1 AAU University, creative activity and research will be expected to be at a national and international level. Teaching responsibilities will generally include 2 assignments per semester, comprised of a combination of designing major productions and course work. The service profile will be comprised of mentoring students, work on School, College, and/or University committees, professional memberships, and curricular development.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Terminal Degree in related field, or significant equivalent professional experience. Ability to teach scenic design and other design courses, as per your experience and effectively mentor young designers. Ability to design scenery for main stage productions in theatre, dance, and in other Interdisciplinary interests in multiple styles of theatre spaces.  

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree with emphasis in Scenic Design. Incorporation of projections into design and knowledge of projection software and implementation. Teaching experience in scene painting, CAD, and other emerging technologies. Experience in designing for touring to varied spaces, designing for site specific and outdoor locations, themed/entertainment design, immersive theatre, and other genres. National and/or international professional design credits in theatre, dance and /or music. Interdisciplinary research involving technology, and/or art, music, and health sciences.    Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
