Contemporary Art Museum (CAM)

The USF Arts District, home to the College of Design, Art & Performance, is a cultural hub comprised of theatres, concert halls, exhibition spaces, design studios, and more. The connected campus is a welcoming destination that offers the university and community a place to engage with the arts through a variety of free events. We proudly feature our faculty, students, and guest artists in over 400 stage productions, concerts, exhibitions and lectures each year.

The Contemporary Art Museum brings to the University and Tampa Bay community today's most accomplished and influential artists working in the international art arena. Exhibitions, collection development, commissioned public art works, interdisciplinary arts research, lectures, symposia, workshops and special events are designed to foster awareness about the role of contemporary artists in shaping our culture and society. Participating artists represent the full spectrum of contemporary art practice including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography, electronic media, and performance.

The Contemporary Art Museum maintains the permanent collection for the University of South Florida. Established in the early 1960s with key purchases from the University's exhibitions program, the collection currently holds over 5,000 objects of contemporary graphics, works on paper, sculpture multiples and photography. Particular strengths for the collection include extensive gifts from USF Graphicstudio, the Martin S. Ackerman Foundation, Robert Stackhouse, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation Prints Initiative. The USF Contemporary Art Museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
